Take a minute to experience this sanctuary, Alices Garden & Urban Farm, where over a thousand members of this urban Milwaukee community come to find nourishment in all aspects of their life. Once a pile of rubble left behind by a defunct highway project, an obvious tale of environmental racism to this observer, it's now a flourishing garden with nearly 1,000 garden plots, feeding the community and the urban gardeners. It's also a community space where people gather for arts & crafts, yoga, to hear & play music, and come together to learn from among dozens of different cultural backgrounds of it's members.
The depth of knowledge & wisdom we encountered from Venice Williams, Executive Director and our interviewee, was way beyond the one minute final piece we delivered. We look forward to sharing more inspiration from her and this magical place in the future.
